30 Characters: #16 – FR-045A

November 30, 2011

The government has been deploying robots into combat zones and various other dangerous situations for decades. In recent years, thanks to certain confidential research programs, their Field Robot models have become highly advanced. At this point the units are deployed, they fly to the location, accomplish mission objectives then returns back to base autonomously.  The self repairing units are highly armored and have top of the line artificial intelligence.  They are powered by a nearly limitless supply of power with a micro-quantum fusion reactor which sources its power from the sun.

FR-045A was deployed with the other 9 FR-04 units on a mission to subdue a super villain who had stolen some technology  capable of destroying an entire city.  During the mission it dove in front of a young boy to protect him from a particularly viscous blast.   The blast cracked the protective cover on FR-045a’s fusion reactor.  That crack leaked out the quantum energy which, when mixed with the radioactive villainous blast killed the boy and caused a complete system shut down on FR-045A.  Later that evening, back in the lab….the robot awoke. Confused…it blasted it way free and has been on the run since.  Though it is not yet aware of it…the consciousness of the boy was transfered into the robot.
